Our materials

We reduce

Every material that is not manufactured is waste we will never have to manage, which is why we try to ensure that everything that enters our festivals is truly necessary.

With this in mind, we work to ensure that single-use plastic completely disappears from our events, starting with small gestures:

  • We reduce plastic bottle usage by distributing reusable water bottles to all staff during setup and takedown, and we install water fountains in all work areas so they can refill as many times as they want. At elrow Town Madrid alone, this measure resulted in more than 6,000 liters of water served from fountains, which translated into more than 12,000 plastic bottles avoided.

  • All our food trucks and catering areas use exclusively compostable packaging, containers and cutlery, eliminating single-use plastics from our food offerings and facilitating the later composting of organic matter.

  • We minimize unnecessary packaging in the distribution of production materials and merchandise products, reducing plastic in shipments and prioritizing sustainable alternatives or responsibly sourced paper.

We reuse

Over 90% of the materials we use in our festivals are reused, and we design each stage, costume and set to last at least five years. Our oldest costume has been with us for over 10 years and has been through 79 shows; the most used one has danced at 190 parties transformed into three different characters, proving that here nothing is considered finished as long as it can keep going.

That same idea reaches our audience through our reusable cups. Year after year we recover more cups to wash and return them to the dance floor in future editions, so that the same cup can live many parties. At elrow Town Madrid we went from recovering 8,600 cups in 2024 to more than 16,500 in 2026. Additionally, we implement dynamics and incentives that encourage you to return yours, turning such a simple gesture into an active part of the elrow experience.

The more each object circulates, the less we have to manufacture and the more sense it makes to take care of what we already have.

We recycle

What we cannot reuse, we recycle to the maximum level. You will find clearly marked recycling stations throughout the venue so that separating your waste is easy and quick. We are happy to see an audience that is increasingly aware each year, because that small gesture keeps our festivals clean and multiplies the volume of recycled waste.

The recycling operation extends to all areas of the festival, from the first setup day to the last takedown day, including bars, catering and production areas.

We transform

At elrow nothing is lost. What no longer serves for one edition we keep, reinvent and return to the dance floor transformed into something completely new through circular economy projects:

Walue Project. We have recovered more than two tons of dirty or broken cups that, instead of ending up in landfill, were transformed into furniture for our own festivals. The cup you toast with one night becomes the bench where you rest the next.

Poufs for chill out areas. The seats in our rest areas are manufactured by reusing more than 800 kilos of EVA rubber from old set pieces and were made in our sewing workshop.

Circular backpacks. Our old thematic canvases are reborn as backpacks, laptop cases and keychains. Visit our merch store and ask about them.
